Tea Time in Ethiopia..

photo credit-Nahom Tilahun    Ethiopia is known for its coffee, but tea is also popular in our country.  One of my fondest memories as a child in Ethiopia, was tea time over the weekends. We used tea time to relax and just talk. During that time, so many great memories were made with my friends and family.  Many years later, tea time is still important to me and my family, so I wanted to share three simple tea recipes and instructions on how to make some of my favorite teas.    Recipe 1 1-whole green cardamoms  2-whole cloves  3-cinnamon sticks with a little bit of ginger (optional)  Recipe 2 Fresh ginger tea 1/2 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger root  1/2 cup of boiling water  1/2 teaspoon of sugar or honey  Did you know, fresh ginger is helps with illnesses such as a cold or flu? The next time you feel sick, you should try it. My other favorite tea is dry thyme leaves tea. To make this tea, just bring water to a boil and then add a pinch of thyme leaves. To enhance the flavor, you can also add a teaspoon of honey. Another great tea that I like to drink is mint tea. Just like the above tea, bring water to a boil and then add a few mint leaves. This tea is so fresh and tasty.  As a bonus, all these teas have amazing benefits for your health.  Try one and let me know which one is your favorite.

Sometimes, it's not all about big hair or long hair. The simplicity and the creativity in a hairstyle can say it all. Knowing what fits you is the key. Think about the shape of your face and what suits you best. What color works best with your complexion? Believe me, it makes all the difference; it's about taking a picture to your stylist and showing your stylist exactly what you like, so he or she can use the picture as a starting point to create a custom style just for you. It's also important to collaborate with your stylist, so he or she can provide you recommendations that will enhance the look you are seeking. All in all, trust your stylist.... we work better when we know our clients believe in us.

Pick the Perfect Prom Dress!

Prom season is here and almost gone, but I couldn't let the season slip away without sharing my thoughts.  Prom is everlasting, 10 years from now, you should still be proud of your look, so your prom dress, shoes, and hairstyle, should all be an expression of you, full of elegance, and of course, show stopping.   Just like this beauty  @thejassminelizabeth   I absolutely love how she kept her look simple, , and timeless. I also had the privilege of styling her hair for her proms. Her look even went viral. Do you remember your prom look? Would you rock the same hairstyle and dress?

Who is ready for beautiful sunny weather?  Well, I definitely am. I am excited to see all the beautiful hair colors, beautiful glowing skin and maxi dresses. It's also the perfect time to rock the perfect balayage look or become a blond bombshell. Also, you can never go wrong with simple highlights to frame and brighten your face.  Oh and I can't wait to see big curly hair, full of layers and shine. Let's not be dull this season! Do something fun and different with your hair.     But before you hit the salon for any color treatment, don't forget to prep your hair. I recommend an oil treatment with a good shampoo and moisturizing conditioner. Please continue this regimen after getting your hair colored, this will help keep your hair healthy.  Why should you do this? Well, when you color your hair, you are stripping the moisture out of your hair, so taking care of your strands is extremely important. Also, pool and beach time is almost here, so chemicals or salt water can dry out your hair.  Make sure you talk to your stylist to discuss how you can color your hair and keep it healthy.
